Travel Dates: 11–21 Jan 2023
Month 3
Note: This is part of my Long-Term Travel Series where I have visited 19 countries in a span of 381 Days as a Solo Filipino Female Traveller. I wanted to immortalise this little diary for myself but I figured: Why not make it informational as well for the public readers who are interested. :)

Sabaidee! My 3rd stop in this Long-Term Travel of mine is the palm tree-shaped country and the place I had my comfort, safe and adventure zone at the same time — my dear Laos.
I was pretty tired from the fast-paced travel and much walking in Thailand, so I have decided to take more rest in the next destination.
From Huay Xay, I had just undertaken the longest bus ride ever since the start of travel. 20 hours. I decided to skip Luang Prabang to lessen transfers, and chose to stay in the adventure capital the longest (7 nights, to be exact), Vang Vieng and oh boy, I love this town so much.
One of the moments that made me say “Good job, Kim. You did something right!” XD
The places I wanted to visit are all walking and cycling distance. Plenty of food available. Also, my hostel offered free breakfast (with selection), RELIABLE wifi and a swimming pool. I really did satisfy myself with movie and anime marathon in here.
Some of Auntie Kim’s Unforgettable Moments:
- 20 hour bus ride from Huay Xay to Vang Vieng and sleeping beside a stranger in 1 bed
- River Tubing!
- First Hot Air Balloon experience
- Chilling in Nam Song River
- Going through deep in the massive cave with other travellers
- Finishing 2 seasons of 86 Anime. This anime is SUCH A MASTERPIECE! Everybody has to watch it.
- Nam Xay View point and first time trekking downhill after sunset
- Meeting my first Filipino traveller friends, my first Bangladeshi friend, my first US friends — all in Laos! I know, right??!

Fun fact: I initially wanted to skip Laos, because at first, it did not look appealing to me and I thought I’d be spending 1 whole month straight in Thailand. But Laos — its scenery, its simple lifestyle, its beauty and its hospitable people made me feel so proud of choosing to make it through this relatively-untouched-by-mass-tourism country.
For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish. — Jeremiah 31:25

Auntie Kim’s Note:
I am in no way being paid to write these articles. I’m currently unemployed, (frantically) looking for work and times are tough especially when you’re a 3rd world country citizen. So, if in any way, you’d like to HELP me stress less on my finances in the upcoming days, please refer below.
Thank you for the support! May God bless you all the more!
